Bloody olive oil!

Through [info]angryangeltoo's process of elimination, we pinpointed one of Astrid's allergies today as a definite - olive oil, if you can believe it ¬_¬ So presumably olives in any function are off limits - I was so shocked, I gave her a jar of beef casserole that had 1% olive oil content and within an hour her face had gone bright red and hot and rough ¬_¬

So: one down, about 12 to go ¬_¬

Is anyone else finding that this stinking flu/virus just refuses to go? I was propped up on about 6 pillows last night hacking up a lung, I didn't get any sleep and it just won't bloody well get better! ;__;

In brighter news, I got my Aizome dress from [info]stockingshock today, and it's absolutely GORGEOUS - so pretty pretty pretty and so elegant!!! :DDD I haven't tried it on yet but I'm sure it will fit perfectly :D She even made some matching hairbows for me in the same material, and it's all going to match my new handbag perfectly (the fabric is quite a dark teal in real life, gorgeous colour) and look *glorious* and all coordinated and everything XD Thank you SO much hon *huge hugs* ♥ I will post pics when I can :D

I also intend to beg her to make me a pair of those amazing long bloomers in black with black lace and ribbons at some point, God knows I need some new bloomers, my single black pair are starting to develop holes all over and there's nothing lolita about springing a leak XDDD

I also dropped off Astrid's gift to [info]neku_niku at the post office today, so hopefully you should have that very soon ♥

ive been following astrid's allergy issues intermittently, so i apologize if this has been brought up before. i might have missed someone making a similar suggestion: have you taken astrid to get an allergy test? i mean, the one where they pull out all the stops? its a sucky procedure [lots of bloodwork, from what i remember as a child] but in the end you'll know what she's allergic to, learn whether medication can be prescribed, or learn to avoid certain things completely.

and dont forget to have her tested again when she's a bit older -- some allergies come and go over time.

We've been fighting to get proper tests for Astrid for nearly two years - almost all her life - and we just got referred to a specialist unit last Monday :D So we're really happy about that - we can start to get some proper answers at last :D

I must admit, the bloodwork worries me a little (Astrid's had a couple of blood tests before and gone absolutely nutzoid XD) but it's so worth it :D Thanks so much for sharing your experience with me hon - I really hope there's something that can be prescribed as it's a worry for me having to keep her on so much anti-histamine :(

ugh, i guess thats the downside to universal health care, all the waiting and bureacracy. but since i havent had insurance in 5-6 years, ill gladly take that than over the voodoo i perform everytime i start sniffling.

i too am not very good with bloodwork but you know, sometimes you have to think about the end result. a little bit of pain now for a lifetime of peace and mind is totally worth it.
